April 30th, 1851 in London. Our story starts the day before the opening of The Great Exhibition. In order to celebrate the event, Theodor Chapman, co-organizer of the exhibition, has invited a handful of influential people to a dinner party at his mansion in Kensington, just west of Hyde Park.
In episode 1 we meet the following characters:
Ashley – A young woman who happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Charlotte Rivers – Theodor Chapman’s favorite author who has decided to base her next novel on the exhibition.
Clara Hudson – Daughter of a very influential local politician. She has been left in charge of some the preparations for the exhibition.
Frederick Bennett – Young inventor who specializes in telecommunication.
Julien Laval – French journalist who has been sent to London to write articles about the exhibition.
Leonard Fitzgerald – Local investor who has made a fortune through his investment fund.
Patricia Fitzgerald – Leonard Fitzgerald’s wife. She is very passionate about new technology and her knowledge on the subject far exceeds that of her husband.
Reginald Owens – Young inventor who specializes in telecommunication.
Theodor Chapman – Co-organizer of The Great Exhibition and host of the dinner party.
